Our News: 3/12/13
We have been very busy the last few weeks getting to know each other.
The children have been learning about space, the planets, the sun and the moon. We have started a new class novel" Brush" which the children are enjoying . We began station teaching last Monday with the help of Mrs Delaney to improve our literacy skills and this was very successful. We have been increasing our mathematical skills especially with the help of maths grids and class games.We will be going on a local history trail in the area shortly and the children have been enjoying browsing through old Limerick photos.
We have been attending our Do this in memory masses and our next one is Tuesday 11th December- All welcome to attend.
We are busy preparing for our Christmas play ' Hosanna Rock' a musical biblical nativity. This will be held in the school halla Monday 16th December 2pm. All welcome to attend.
We are preparing some Christmas artwork which is almost complete!
There is a selection of artwork, writing and photos on the various pages. This will change over the coming months. Please log in regularly to see our latest work!( P.S. Not everyone's work is included here at the moment but each child will get their chance to display here over the year.)

We are settling back into school. We have made great New Years Resolutions and have been learning about the ear and sound. The children are beginning a project on our environment and recycling. We will be exploring clay and making clay coil pots. We are continuing to practise our maths grids and will be playing plenty mental maths games.
Mrs Delaney is a great help in our weekly station teaching with our class novel " Brush."
The children are enjoying drámaíocht as gaeilge ' An Cinnín Óir agus na trí Bhéar'. We are enjoying new songs and poems, On the Ning Nang Nong and Seimí.

Spring has begun and we are busy learning about the Arctic region. We will be making our own Arctic book full of interesting facts on Arctic animals and weather. We have made box monster people from recycled boxes and are using these in class for our gaeilge lessons. The children are beginning project work on Space, Inventors and other individual choices. We are looking forward to presenting these to the class. We are learning about the lifecycles of frogs and butterflies. The children are enjoying our drama activities including the 'remote control kid !' There have been some excellent scripts written! We are preparing in earnest for our First Confession on April 1st, practising our prayers and songs.

This month is proving a busy one. Our Do this in memory mass is on Tuesday 18th next and we have begun our confession practice of the parable of The Lost Sheep for our confession on April 1st. We had a great seachtain na gaeilge with our ceolchoirm and seisiún in the halla last Thursday and Friday. We sang Faoiléan, Faoiléan, recited our poem 'Crann' and sang with the whole school 'Trasna na dTonnta and Beidh áonach amarách. On March 6th we celebrated world book day. The children dressed up as book characters and we had buddy reading and reading activities in class.
For the remainder of March we will begin exploring the country and continent of Australia. We will be doing some lovely aboriginal artwork . The children have begun work on their individual SESE projects at home and will be doing some group work in class to help it along. Some children have already completed them and will be presenting them to the class.
We have just started a new class novel 'The owl who was afraid of the dark'. We look forward to continuing our station teaching with Mrs Delaney on this.
